Renal Safety Guidelines

ZOMETA offers established renal safety guidelines for patients with advanced solid tumours and multiple myeloma1

Calculate creatinine clearance to determine the appropriate ZOMETA dose—before the first infusion ONLY1

Access the creatinine clearance calculator.

  • Once you have calculated the patient’s creatinine clearance, use the table below to determine the appropriate dose of ZOMETA ready-to-use formulation or concentrate1
    • The amount of the ready-to-use formulation removed should be replaced by an equal amount of sterile 0.9% weight per volume (w/v) sodium chloride or 5% w/v glucose injection
  • The same dose should be used every time the patient receives ZOMETA and should not be adjusted1
Creatinine Clearance Chart

Monitor renal health before every dose to reduce risk and help patients stay on ZOMETA1,2

  • Measure serum creatinine levels before every dose of ZOMETA1
  • Ensure your patient is properly hydrated before administration of ZOMETA1,2

Withhold ZOMETA temporarily ONLY if serum creatinine increases1

  • For patients who experience renal deterioration, the dosing of ZOMETA should be temporarily interrupted1
Renal Deterioration

Resume ZOMETA when serum creatinine normalises1

  • Resume therapy at the dose that was used prior to treatment interruption only when serum creatinine returns to within 10% of baseline value1
