Renal Safety Guidelines

ZOMETA offers established renal safety guidelines for patients with advanced solid tumours and multiple myeloma¹

Calculate creatinine clearance to determine the appropriate ZOMETA dose—before the first infusion ONLY¹

• Once you have calculated the patient’s creatinine clearance, use the table below to determine the appropriate dose of ZOMETA ready-to-use formulation or concentrate¹
  • The amount of the ready-to-use formulation removed should be replaced by an equal amount of sterile 0.9% weight per volume (w/v) sodium chloride or 5% w/v glucose injection
• The same dose should be used every time the patient receives ZOMETA and should not be adjusted¹

Monitor renal health before every dose to reduce risk and help patients stay on ZOMETA^1,2

• Measure serum creatinine levels before every dose of ZOMETA¹
• Ensure your patient is properly hydrated before administration of ZOMETA^1,2

Withhold ZOMETA temporarily ONLY if serum creatinine increases¹

• For patients who experience renal deterioration, the dosing of ZOMETA should be temporarily interrupted¹

Resume ZOMETA when serum creatinine normalises¹

• Resume therapy at the dose that was used prior to treatment interruption only when serum creatinine returns to within 10% of baseline value¹
